Overview

Restoran Lim Mee Yoke, tucked away on Jalan SS 2/10 in Petaling Jaya, is a quiet gem for lovers of authentic Chinese noodles. Specializing in classic Penang hawker fare, this eatery offers a nostalgic journey through some of the region’s most cherished flavors.

The prawn mee here is the heart of the menu — a broth rich with the natural sweetness and depth of fresh prawns, capturing that unmistakable kampung-style essence. It’s not overly heavy or saturated with MSG, allowing the clean, layered taste to shine through. Pairing it with their egg noodles delivers a chewy, satisfying bite that complements the broth perfectly. The addition of shredded chicken and boiled egg accentuates the dish’s comforting nature, recalling memories of traditional hometown meals.

Besides the signature prawn mee, the restaurant serves other notable dishes such as the curry mee, wantan mee, and kuey teow soup with fish balls. Each plate reflects a balance of textures and flavors—from the springy wantans lightly fried to a delicate crispness, to the smooth and slightly pungent chee cheong fun coated in a prawn paste sauce. The marinated pork, or loh bak, stands out with its crispy exterior, though some diners note the accompanying dips could be elevated to better match the quality of the dish.

The setting is modest yet welcoming, recently upgraded with air-conditioning, making it a comfortable refuge from the tropical heat. The interior remains simple, emphasizing the food without distraction. This space fits well for individuals, families, and small groups who seek a casual but satisfying dining experience centered on authentic Penang-style noodles.

Restoran Lim Mee Yoke appeals to those who crave genuine hawker flavors that have stood the test of time. Its consistency and commitment to tradition attract both locals longing for a taste of home and newcomers curious about Malaysia’s rich culinary heritage. While prices have modestly increased, the quality and the ambiance justify the value.

In summary, this humble spot offers more than just a meal—it serves a slice of cultural memory. Whether it’s the prawn mee or the variety of noodle options, every bite at Restoran Lim Mee Yoke connects diners to a deeper appreciation of Malaysian Chinese cuisine.

Lim Mee Yoke has been established a long time. It used to be the best Hokkien Prawn Mee in town. And it has maintain its standard and consistency till today. We had the standard Prawn Mee (RM 11.00) and Curry Mee (RM 11.00) and it stills satisfy our craving for Penang hawker fare. We also ordered a side of Lobak (2 pcs at RM 9.00). The Lobak was quite good but unfortunately, like many places especially in KL or PJ, they tend to pay little attention to the dips, which are integral parts of the dish as a whole. The lobak here was served with a run of the mill bottled sweet chilli sauce which detracted from it's potential. Now they also offer Wanton Mee and Law Mee. They also have other sides like fishcake, fried wanton and chee cheong fun. Would I recommend it? Overall, the noodles are still quite authentic and the restaurant is simple but comfortable enough.

Renovated with air-conditioned since the last time I came here. The prawn noodle has somewhat diluted a bit but still has the familiar taste. Chee Cheong Fun still similar with thick sauce which has a tint of prawn paste. Overall cooler ambiance with our hot malaysian weather but the price gone up a bit.

Eh, This Prawn Mee Damn Got “Kampung Feel” One Nowadays in KL, you say prawn mee ah—most give you MSG soup only, prawn taste macam kena curi liao. But this one? Wah, zheng zhong har mee—got that sweet prawn flavour, straight bring you back to kampung days. I tell you, must order with egg noodles—QQ texture, ngam ngam with the soup. Add in the shredded chicken and boiled egg, really hou sek. Broth light but got depth, not jelak at all. They got curry mee and wantan mee too, but honestly ah, har mee is the main character here. Overall? One bowl settle your heart, stomach, and childhood memories.

Definitely one of the best prawn mee/hokkien mee places in PJ. Their broth is thick and flavourful. It's also quite spicy on its own without the need to add the chilli paste that they give along with the bowl of noodles. The cham peng is pretty decent, not too sweet, not too mild. The lor+soup is also at a good mix ratio. We usually order their lorbak and sometimes the Cheong fun.

Regular looking joint, but was served up some surprisingly tasty meal. The prawn noodle had savory rich broth that's quite spicy, for prawn noodle standards, but it was so good I found it hard to leave the bowl empty. The loh bak was also pretty good. Overall it was a pretty good meal.
